According to research from Strategy Analytics, global mobile handset sales has fallen 4 percent from year to year, and reach 291 million units in the third quarter of 2009. However, it estimates will be positive developments in the fourth quarter of 2009, as a signal of the end of the economic recession. Meanwhile, according to Neil Mawston, Director of Strategy Analytics, the institute estimates that 300 million units of handsets will be sold throughout the world in the 4th quarter 2009, up 3 percent from 294 million units in the third quarter of 2008.
In a report Q3 2009 Global Handset Market Share Update from Strategy Analyst said that:
